And now, more short opinions that assume you have at least some famillarity on what i'm talking about.

Quake 4

Yeah, so to test the 6600GT out, I got myself Q4.
The default options set it to everything off and 640x480. Urgh!

I immediatly set them all to on and had a quick play. Then Turned AA off amd HQ-FX off. ran it at 1152x864. (AA to me just makes things blury, and HQ-SFX didn't appear to do much but eat frame-rates)

Damn, this thing looks sweet, most of it is in dark corridoors but there are a few outside areas. Shadows look very good but some bumpmapping looks poorly done. Check out Kane's legs after he becomes half-strogg. (That aint a spoil, its mentioned on teh back cover :P)

The only problem I have is that there are a few battles where the only effective way to win is to blast them with rockets, a lot of times. That is, there are some overpowered enemies which are a pain in multiple fights.

Also, it feels like it wants to be part: fast paced action shooter and part slower paced tatical shooter. Sadly it masters none of these very well.

In any case, a rather solid SP game, I'm no a fan of MP so can't comment much on that.

Tribes Vengance

Well, it was on sale for $24

A rather nice stylised game, that uses a story plot in the oldskool method.

cutscenes baby!

T:V is a Fast paced jetpack action shooter, with a variety of play styles avaliable. Rather fun in all. But the problem is learning the weapon system. ALL weapons feel very underpowered.

The enemy also can predict where you are jetpack flying to and nail you easilly for high damage, this does appear to have a flaw in that once you learn how they operate you can avoid these attacks rather easilly.

Lionheart

A cross between previous Black Isle games and Diablo. Uses the SPECIAL system.

Ummmmmmm, slightly addictive in the continuiosly MUST LOOT sense but has a shitty story and uninteresting characters.

Proberlly best to aviod, unless you find it for about $5 somewhere

War of the Ring

A Warcraft like RTS game based on Tolkiens 'verse. Rather fun but there is one issue.

As in Crawl along pace, which is a shame since it plays fairly well.

Cant comment much more, since i've only briefly looked at it.

Minnions of Mirth

An Independant MMORPG

Argh! theres that horrid acronym! But, you can play this thing SP styles.

Plus its an interesting Indie game, and there is a free version avaliable out there (though limited in options). Plus there are NO monthly fees, or any fee after the initial purchase.

Join the community and contribute, you could see your stuff being placed into the final release.

But what Is interesting with this is that you setup your own server and have your own world, dedicated people could run this thing for ever

Pathetic writing and uninteresting characters, this feels like what King was capable of 30 years ago. i know he can do much better that this UTTER WASTE OF TIME.
